Can you believe it’s already the 4th of July? Wow! At least the weather is going to be a balmy 92 degrees! I think I can handle that. Now the choice is where to go and what to do.

With an extra long weekend, you can festivate locally or semi-locally. <<< It’s a word that didn’t make it into Merriam-Webster so I’m upping its usage! 😉

Hey, did you know that July 2nd was John Adam’s favored anniversary date of our parting with the Brits? Purportedly, he believed that the 2nd was the correct date, and would turn down invitations to appear at July 4th events in protest. I didn’t know that! Though, I did remember hearing that both Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826—the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.

Stop by the Carmichael Park Clubhouse and grab some flapjacks and breakfast before the parade! The Pancake Breakfast is hosted by the Carmichael Kiwanis Club.

Fair Oaks Boulevard

Enjoy the wonderful community floats, marching bands, equestrian entries, antique cars and more! Parade route begins at Marconi/Fair Oaks, continues down Fair Oaks and ends on Cypress/Manzanita. For more information on the parade and float registration contact the Elks Lodge at 916.489.2103.
